FAQs

What is included in “garden maintenance”?

We offer a FREE 1 hour consultation so that we can understand your specific needs & ideas. We’ll listen and make suggestions so that all of our visits are focused on the exact aspects of your garden that you’d like to see maintained or improved.

Alternatively, if you don’t know where to start, our gardeners are experienced and capable. You can set them free and they will use their expertise to focus on what they can see your space requires - including maintaining the lawn, beds, general tidying and maintenance and shaping plants.

Will it be the people I see on the website who actually attend?

YES! We’re different - we’re small, we’re independent and we care. This isn’t a nationally franchised business employing low-skilled labor and cutting corners on quality. Our Head Horticulturalist Sean will personally attend each appointment, with help from Ben and his small team of dedicated garden staff.

How can you really offer ‘zero emissions’?

We’ll arrive to your property on E-Bikes, that have been charged up overnight on an all-renewables energy tariff. We use hand tools and/or electric battery-operated power tools for all of our work, and a hand-operated rotary mower for your lawns. As well as being good for the planet, the rotary mower offers an incredible finish that conventional petrol-driven mowers cannot match.

What areas do you cover?

We’re based in West London - W6. We serve customers within a 30min E-Bike radius of this postcode! Generally this means Hammersmith, Chiswick, Fulham, Kew, Barnes, Mortlake, Richmond and Putney. But give us a call or ping us an email - we’ll be happy to discuss your specific location.

How does organic pest control work?

Growing concerns with chemical pesticides and herbicides (especially Glyphosate and neonicotinoids) present a challenge. The increasing evidence of the dangers to humans, pollinators and nature in general is something that cannot be overlooked.
We tackle pests in a variety of organic and safe ways. We focus on plant health.

Each pest has a different deterrent. We have the experience to tackle most problems that arise.

To quote Monty Donn from his book Down to Earth:

“Avoid all pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. Using them to kill specific pests is like using a shotgun to kill a fly and will not only destroy many beneficial organisms, but will also set up a chain reaction of plagues and problems. Strive to help create a balanced environment that is self regulating.”

What’s your inspiration?

We love gardens of all kind of designs and most of our customers have either traditional English gardens, or modern spaces with lots of architecturally structured planting. We draw enormous inspiration from traditional Japanese gardening too - not exclusively in the planting and arrangement, but particularly in the painstaking attention to detail and thought which goes in to the maintenance.
